Johnny got sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon the beer company, they asked him to do something creative with their promotional item the “99 beer pack.” His ingenious idea was to tape the 99 beers to a famously skated rail in downtown Vancouver and skate it like no other rail. We quickly got kicked out.. but I got the photo.

On just another skate sesh in Vancouver I was fortunate enough to get this photo of my friend Johnny doing a front board slide down this rickety rail that was barely holding together. At the time Alex Chalmers owner of Pylon Skateboards was there and he was so stoked on the picture we got it ran in a magazine as an ad.

I had the chance of getting my work published again in Downward SkateMag after a friend who was starting their carpentry business asked for a few photos. He also happened to be a skater and I took a few photos of him skating in the street, this happened to be the one in combination with a product photo I shot for him that landed me a spot on the magazine!

Growing up as skaters we all had that one spot we all dreamed of skating some day when we got older. The type of spot you would drive by everyday staring at it, imagining yourself jumping off it. For Johnny that spot was the Kelowna Court House stair set. On the first few attempts he completely broke his hand, but pure adrenaline kept him going. Shocking to us all he pushed on and landed it, he celebrated by having a cigarette and calling Breana Geering

My first year shooting with the Pylon skate team, I always found it cool to see all of their unique styles and how different each of them skate from one another.

During that summer the entire team took a trip to the Okanagan. I was able to shoot a ton of the Pylon team riders and I was also published for the first time in a magazine with a skateboard/coffee collaboration.
